MCP Pylot for Cursor

Launch posts, from your editor

Add Pylot to Cursor's mcp.json and the agent can make posts while you code. Pylot writes them in your brand voice, generates the images and drafts them into your calendar.

Set up in a minute

Connect Cursor to Pylot

  1. In Pylot, open Settings → API keys and create a key. It starts with pyl_live_.
  2. Put the key in your shell: export PYLOT_API_KEY=pyl_live_…
  3. Add the pylot entry to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project). Cursor fills ${env:PYLOT_API_KEY} from your environment.
  4. Check that pylot shows as connected in Cursor's MCP settings.
~/.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "pylot": {
      "url": "https://www.getpylot.com/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:PYLOT_API_KEY}"
      }
    }
  }
}

Try asking

Ask for the post, not just the schedule

Cursor asks, Pylot makes it: captions in your brand voice, images in your colours with your logo, then a draft or a scheduled post in your calendar.

“Look at the last five commits and write an X post about what changed, with a brand image. Schedule it for tomorrow at 11am.”

  • generate_captions in your voice
  • generate_image your colours
  • create_post draft or scheduled
Prompt 1

Cursor sends the request; Pylot writes, designs and drafts. You see the posts in your calendar.

“Create three LinkedIn posts for our product launch next week, each with its own square image, and leave them as drafts.”

Prompt 2
  • generate_captions
  • generate_image
  • create_post

“Make an Instagram post announcing our open-source release with a 4:5 brand image, and schedule it for Friday at 5pm.”

Prompt 3
  • generate_captions
  • generate_image
  • create_post
create_post

Drafts unless you give a time

Captions are free. Images use 1 credit each, refunded if generation fails.

Questions

Pylot for Cursor, answered

How do I add Pylot to Cursor?

Add a pylot entry to mcp.json with Pylot's MCP URL and an Authorization header. Cursor reads ${env:NAME} in headers, so the key can stay in your environment instead of the file.

Will the posts sound like my business?

Yes. generate_captions writes in the brand voice Pylot learned from your website, and generate_image applies your colours, logo and style automatically. Your agent asks for the post; Pylot makes it on-brand.

Can Cursor publish without asking me?

Not by accident. create_post always makes a draft unless you give it a time, so posts land in your Pylot calendar first. Going live right away needs publish_post with confirm set to true, and that tool is marked destructive so the client can ask you before it runs.

What does it cost?

Captions are free. Each generated image uses 1 credit from your plan and is refunded if generation fails. Drafting, scheduling and publishing are free. The key uses the same plan, limits and credit balance as your dashboard.
